Worship

First Cup

9:00 AM
Join us for First Cup, held every Sunday morning at 9:00 in the Sanctuary.  Come dressed casually.  As you enter, grab a muffin and a cup of fair-trade coffee, tea, or juice and mingle a bit. The music ranges from popular songs you might hear on a Christian radio station, to gospel, to folk, to rearranged traditional hymns.   Sermons are often interactive and the service lasts 50 minutes.  For those families who desire it, childcare for infant through age four is available downstairs in room 120 of the sanctuary building. Afterwards, visit one of our THISunday classes.

We welcome people of all ages.  We welcome people from all backgrounds—Christians of all denominations, people of faith from throughout the world, people who profess no faith, and those who are searching for religious and spiritual meaning.  We would love to welcome you!

Traditional Service

11:00 AM
Our 11:00 service is held every Sunday morning in the sanctuary, a wonderful worship space which contains both modern and time-honored elements. The service has a printed bulletin to help you follow the liturgy, and we sing hymns accompanied by pipe organ. Our adult choir has a repertoire that ranges from classical anthems, to spirituals, to modern compositions. Occasionally music is provided by our handbell choir, children’s choir, young singers, and instrumentalists.

The service includes a “Time with Children” component where children are invited forward for a short lesson related to the scripture or season and a prayer. For those families who desire it, childcare for infant through age four is available downstairs in room 120 of the sanctuary building. Some children may choose to begin the service in the sanctuary and go downstairs after the “Time with Children” part of the service.

We welcome people from all backgrounds—Christians of all denominations, people of faith from throughout the world, people who profess no faith, and those who are searching for religious and spiritual meaning. We would love to welcome you!

THISunday

10:00 AM
THISunday is what we call the 10:00am educational/experiential component of our Sunday mornings.  (We call it NEXTSunday when we are talking about next Sunday.)  Each week we have one scripture passage and theme that guides our activities in worship and study.  At 10:00am, Faithweaver Bible Studies are offered for every age group.  Adults also have one or two other course options for the day that might be informal discussion; a guest speaker; or something more active, like walking a meditation labyrinth or participating in some service project.  Each day stands on its own with its particular theme, so even if you missed being here last Sunday, you will not be behind THISunday.

See more of our study opportunities on our study page.

Music

Handbell Choir (high school and up)

Rehearses 7:00-8:15 pm, Sundays in the sanctuary, September through May.  This group plays at the traditional service about every six weeks.  Newcomers are welcome!

Adult Choir (high school and up)

Rehearses 7:30 – 9:00 pm, Wednesdays in the sanctuary, September through May. The choir sings weekly at the 11:00 am traditional service. The choral repertoire includes an eclectic choice of music. Twice a year (Advent and springtime), the choir prepares a cantata. The unique position of the choir, slightly elevated in the center of the nave, wonderfully supports congregational singing and downplays the impression that the choir is there to perform for the congregation. Everyone is welcome.

Praise Band (high school and up)

The Praise Band plays for First Cup, our contemporary worship service at 9:00 am on Sundays. The band welcomes instrumentalists (bass, guitar, drums, keyboard, etc) and vocalists who are willing to commit to this important and uplifting ministry. We also can use musicians willing to play on an occasional basis.

Soloists and Instrumentalists

If you are willing to sing a solo or play an instrument during a worship service, we would love to hear about it!

Non-Musical Support of Our Music Ministry

If your gifts are of the technical and instructional nature, we need you, too. Volunteers provide audio/visual support for both services, including projection, live sound, and web streaming.

If you would like to be a part of our music ministry in any way, please contact TJ Shirley.
